RECENT PERSONAL PROJECTS & EXHIBITIONS
1998-2007
THE UNWANTED PEOPLE - I traveled to Israel expecting to finish my photo documentation of children living in the old city of Jerusalem. Instead, I decided to enter the Gaza Strip and the Westbank to photograph the Palestinian people that live within these districts and surrounding refugee camps. As a result I have collected a series of vivid b/w portraits, that represent a Palestinian human nature, rarely displayed in the mainstream media today.

HEROIN SERIES – These images originally came from an assignment that I shot for Enterprise Magazine, although most of them were not actually used in the story about “social responsibility in a beleaguered community.” The downtown eastside of Vancouver is marked by drug addiction, poverty, mental illness and homelessness and is often documented. With these images I took a different approach and set out to create more artful images that would portray the situation.

TRACKRECORD - I recently began photographing these vivid portraits. I always request that the subject stand against one of the many blue/green walls that enclose the track. This preserves the consistency that runs through the series. Programs, tickets, money, binoculars, cigarettes, any item that the subject may have with them are included in the portrait. These personal items enhance the pictured, adding another dimension to the images. The series will be accompanied by what I call ‘Trackrecord’. A brief biography based on a short interview with the subject.
